چکیده

Proximal humerus fractures accounts for about 4 to 5% of all fractures. They are the third most common in elderly population after hip and distal radius Regarding treatment proximal fractures, controversies still exists whether do conservative or operative management. Various procedures carried out, recent trend internal fixation has moved on locking plates. The present study is undertaken evaluate functional outcome complication treated by philos plate. This a prospective involving adults (>18yrs) with admitted AJ Institute medical sciences research centre, Mangalore. In this period 30 cases were open reduction Philos plate evaluated. our series, majority patients males road traffic accident being commonest mode injury 2 part, 3 part fracture dislocations. united patients. Among 2(6.7%) had an excellent outcome, 10(33.3%) good 13(43.3%) fair 5(16.7%) poor according constant murley scoring system. conclusion advantageous implant humeral due angular stability, particularly comminuted osteoporotic bones patients, thus allowing early mobilization.

Plating of proximal humeral fractures.

The optimal treatment for proximal humeral fractures is controversial. Few data exist concerning the influence of the surgical approach on the outcome. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of proximal humeral fractures treated with locking plate fixation through a deltopectoral vs an anterolateral deltoid-splitting approach. Of 86 patients who met the...

The Outcome of Proximal Humeral Locking Plates in the Management of Three and Four Part Proximal Humeral Fractures in Special Cohort of Young Patients in High Velocity Trauma

Background: Locking plate fixation provides satisfactory outcome following proximal humerus fractures. None of theprevious studies selectively evaluate the outcome in young patients. This study evaluates outcome of locking platesystem in the treatment of acute three- and four-part fractures in young patients. Methods: In this prospective study we included all patients who were less than 60 years...

Outcome of locking compression plating for proximal humeral fractures: a prospective study.

PURPOSE To evaluate the outcome of open reduction and internal fixation using locking compression plates for proximal humeral fractures. METHODS 54 men and 16 women aged 28 to 79 (mean, 54) years underwent open reduction and internal fixation using a locking compression plate for closed 2-part (n=22), 3-part (n=38), and 4-part (n=10) proximal humeral fractures. 10 of the patients also had dis...

Displaced proximal humeral fractures: an Indian experience with locking plates

BACKGROUND The treatment of displaced proximal humerus fractures, especially in elderly, remains controversial. The objective of this study was to evaluate functional outcome of locking plate used for fixation of these fractures after open reduction. We also attempted to evaluate the complications and predictors of loss of fixation for such an implant. METHODS Over two and a half years, 56 pa...

Management Of Displaced Proximal Humeral Fractures

Treatment decision of displaced proximal humeral fractures is based on bone quality, fracture pattern, degree of displacement and patient profile. The AO/ASIF fracture classification helps in guiding treatment. Nonsurgical treatment consists of sling immobilisation. Surgical options include closed reduction and percutaneous pinning, open reduction and internal fixation with either conventional ...
